Can Rhinoplasty Improve Breathing?
Understanding Functional Rhinoplasty & Septoplasty in Wichita, KS
While many people seek rhinoplasty to improve the appearance of their nose, others struggle with chronic nasal obstruction or difficulty breathing. In some cases, functional rhinoplasty can improve airflow while also enhancing nasal balance and appearance. Dr. James Rieger evaluates both cosmetic and functional concerns to recommend the treatment that's right for you.
FUNCTIONAL RHINOPLASTY
What is Functional Rhinoplasty?
Functional rhinoplasty is performed to improve the structure of the nose when anatomical problems interfere with normal breathing. Unlike cosmetic rhinoplasty, which focuses on appearance, functional rhinoplasty addresses issues such as a deviated septum, collapsed nasal valves, or other structural abnormalities that reduce airflow.
For many patients, functional and cosmetic goals can be addressed during the same surgery.
